Advanced Level 3 Physical Intervention (Train a Trainer)

Training from professionals

McCormack Training Ltd provides a range of conflict management and physical intervention training programmes. These courses are based on core modules. Recent case law has shown that a lack of Physical Intervention training could leave staff, and employers at risk of harm, prosecution and substantial compensation claims.

Content:

We feel that as a trainer you should have sufficient knowledge to be able to address the current issues of the industry when applying physical intervention techniques.

Therefore, on completion and passing of this Level 3 Physical Intervention course you will have the knowledge to be able to deliver the Level 2 Door Supervisor Physical Intervention package.

Throughout the course we will examine:

  • The requirement to use non-physical skills as far as possible
  • The law in relation to 'reasonable force' and 'self defence'
  • The value of assessing a situation before intervening
  • Using physical intervention as a last resort
  • Possible medical implications
  • The potential legal implications of the techniques
  • Disengagement techniques
  • Escorting and guiding skills
  • Holding and Containment skills

This module based training varies from disengagement tactics to more advanced rescue techniques, escorting methods through to holding skills. The techniques are fully in accordance with current police guidelines on the use of force and have been Home Office approved.

Service Users:

Physical intervention skills may be needed in some workplaces to manage challenging behaviour safely. Our physical intervention skills are based on natural movements that do not rely on strength or aggression.

These techniques meet guidelines in various areas of the security industry but go further to address current issues and developments. The additional techniques have been medically risk assessed to the standards of the Institute of Conflict Management. They are currently being taught to various personnel working within the NHS, Mental Health Institutions, elderly care, residential homes, schools, retail establishments, enforcement officers, bailiffs, security personnel, door supervisors and other organisations.

With the 2012 Olympics just around the corner various organisations will be working alongside the police, therefore commonality of standards will be required.
