This course is designed for persons who, as part of their job may have to extract or detain people. This may include Civilian Enforcement Officers, Bailiffs, and certain aspects of Nursing, Hospital Porters, Security Organizations, Private Prison Officers, and Civilian Detention Officers.

McCormack Training Ltd provides a range of Conflict Management and Physical Intervention Training Programmes. These courses are based on core modules. Recent case law has shown that a lack of Physical Intervention Training could leave staff and employers at risk of harm, prosecution and substantial compensation claims. Containment and Extraction are now the way forward.
We feel that dependent upon your role that the use of mechanical restraining mechanisms such as handcuffs may have to be deployed.
McCormack Training Ltd are now pleased to offer a new Handcuff Course. On completion and passing of this course you will have the knowledge to be able to use Handcuffs correctly.
Throughout the Course you will examine:
- The requirement to use non-physical skills as far as possible.
- The law in relation to using reasonable force and self-defence.
- The value of assessing a situation before intervening.
- Using physical intervention as a last resort.
- Possible medical implications.
- The potential legal implications of the techniques.
- Escorting and guiding skills.
- Holding and containment skills.
- Carrying and holding the Handcuffs.
- Utilisation of the Handcuffs.
- Deployment of Handcuffs on compliant and non-compliant people.
The techniques taught through this module based training are fully in accordance with current Police guidelines and have been Home Office approved.
These techniques meet guidelines in various areas of the Security Industry and have been medically risk assessed to the standard of the Institute of Conflict Management. They are currently being taught to the Police, H.M. Court Services, Enforcement Officers, Mental Health Institutes, Door Supervisors and other organisations.
Minimum Requirements:
You must have attended the One day Advanced Physical Intervention course before attending this course.
